Rosemarie Fiore took these long-exposure photos of old Atari games. From her website:

These photographs are long exposures taken while playing video war games of the 80′s created by Atari, Centuri and Taito. The photographs were shot from video game screens while I played the games. By recording each second of an entire game on one frame of film, I captured complex patterns not normally seen by the eye.

I just came across this little gem on JoshSpear. Artist Brian Dettmer carves into old books, mostly reference books apparently, to reveal artfully chosen bits of content. I can’t image what kind of times this takes, let alone what sort of tools, but they are captivating. There are plenty of images here, and also here, and information can be found on Wikipedia.

OK, apparently I am on a role with design-geek stuff this week. As long as I am showing my true colors, I may as well admit to this bit of real geek lust: a really nice notebook.

I know, I know… but look at it! (Take THAT, Moleskine!)

I always use graph paper pads for meeting notes, to-do lists, thumbnails, site maps… pretty much everything. The problem is, I can never find the really tiny grid stuff and the quarter-inch grid crap makes me feel like a 1st grader learning my letter forms.

Then I find what these guys are pushing. Dot grids? Action lists? Your choice of three PMS colors?! Now if I can only convince my boss to drop $15 a 50 page book…
